CEP Wins iF Product Design Award 2012

CEP has scooped a prestigious international iF product design award for 2012.The manufacturer of sports compression clothing won over the “Leisure & Lifestyle” category jury with its bike compression bib shorts. The

cycling compression gear was praised for its effective combination of design and function.

Since 1953 the iF (International Forum Design Hannover) has been inviting international manufacturers and designers to enter their designs in the contest. These days the iF product design award is one of the world’s major awards in the field of innovative product design. Independent design experts from all around the world gather together every year to sit on the adjudication panels. Those who are successful get an award that’s worth far more than simply a place in the trophy cabinet. From now on CEP bib shorts packaging is entitled to bear the iF award seal of approval.

The iF award and CEP have one thing in common: six decades of history. CEP, a division of the Bayreuth-based company medi GmbH & Co. KG, has stood for quality “made in Germany” since 1951. One of CEP’s particular strengths is the ‘medi compression’ knitting technology. It ensures CEP products fit perfectly, guaranteeing optimum compression as a result. When it comes to the bike

compression bib shorts, design and function are inextricably linked. Extra-long legs cover the whole thigh. This is especially noticeable on longer routes and when cycling standing up - when the muscle support becomes very noticeable. The shorts are anatomically pre-shaped and feature an ultra thin pad with special padding for

enhanced comfort in the seat - a unique CEP design feature. The webbed material around the straps makes for improved ventilation. The coldblack® feature prevents the black fibres of the fabric from heating up in the sun and leads to a cooling effect.
